Clues de BarlesDiscover the Geopark of Haute Provence
The Clues of Barles, a geological curiosity to discover
From the campsite on the Barles road, the Bès has cut through the Jurassic or early Cretaceous limestone, between 155 and 140 million years old, to form a "clue". The river bed is now between two vertical rock walls over 100 metres high.
Within the Haute-Provence Geopark, Barles is known for the diversity and complexity of the geological evidence found there today, and while you may not know all the scientific intricacies, anyone can appreciate the fascinating beauty of the work of nature and time. A trip that the entire campsite team encourages you to make by car, motorbike, bike or on foot on one of the many hiking trails in the Alpes de Haute-Provence.
